The selective plane illumination microscopy (SPIM) setup is an imaging device using the laser sheet illumination principle. It is used for scanning of tissue blocks of 0.5 to 5 mm diameter. The device is built specifically for lymphoid organ imaging. For general 3D imaging, the “Ultramicroscope” (LaVision Biotec) is the primary mesoscopic imaging device.
